The Swing of the Pendulum (Part 2)

In Part 1, I introduced the pendulum as being one of many tools that can be used to communicate with Spirit, and outlined steps for how to use one. 

As mentioned, my friend Monica was a whiz with it and we used it often to ask for messages from our spirit guides and angels.  She would hold it over a chart of the alphabet and the pendulum would freely move to individual letters to spell out a message.

And then one time, Ron showed up!  It was so amazing to have this ability to connect in with him, as I missed him so much.  He had a beautiful message of love for me that filled my heart.

His next message did NOT have that same effect …

Ron returns ….

The first anniversary of Ron’s death had just passed days earlier and I was at Monica’s for dinner.  As we chatted in the living room afterward, Monica stepped away for a minute … which is when I began to notice the scent.  Kind of like vanilla. 

When she returned, I asked her about it. We figured maybe it was her smudging pot nearby.  But the scent disappeared … then returned … and then got more insistent. 

That’s when I realized … it smelled like Ron’s pipe tobacco. 

For about 10 minutes, it kept getting my attention.  Monica didn’t smell anything, but I sure did! 

So, I got up and sniffed all around, carefully checking over by the smudging pot.  Nope, the scent was definitely localized to my chair. 

That was odd, but I knew from past experience that smelling Ron’s tobacco might be meaningful.  We decided to get out the pendulum to see if this indeed was Ron making another appearance.

It was. 

And he had a message for me … one that turned out to be particularly powerful.

Monica held the pendulum over the alphabet chart and the pendulum started to move …

Message:  LET …

The pendulum stopped and started to circle instead of selecting letters.  That was strange.  I asked Monica what this meant.  “He’s having difficulty getting the message across.  It’s a difficult one for him to share.”

Difficult?  Why?  What could he possibly have to say that would be difficult?

The pendulum started to move once more.  This time, the full message came through …

Message:  LET … ME BE AT PEACE.  I MUST BE GOING AWAY FOR NOW.  KEEP YOUR HEART OPEN.  PLEASE KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU AND WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY.

WHAT … ??  Let you be at peace … ?

You must be … GOING??  What in the blazes are you talking about?

Me:  Where are you going?
Message:  A NEW PLACE
Me:  What … or where … is this “new place”?
Message:  JUST ANOTHER PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE WHERE I MUST GO FOR A WHILE TO HELP A FRIEND.

And that was it.  The pendulum stopped. 

He was gone. 

Breathe, Karen, breathe …

I was stunned … and felt like I’d just been kicked in the gut.  WTF … ? He was leaving me??

But wait a minute, this didn’t make any sense!  He was “going”?  But where?  Seriously, where else was there in the “Universe”?  Didn’t he just kind of hang around, staying close by?  

(At this point, I had yet to encounter the book, “Journey of Souls,” to understand the complex nature of life on the Other Side.)

Hey!  Can anyone tell me what the %*!#$ just happened??

I needed more information!  Monica used the pendulum to ask if I had any spirit guides in the room we could talk to.  “Michael” stepped up ….

Me:  Will Ron be coming back to me?
Message:  YES
Me:  Will you tell us who he’s gone to help?
Message:  NO
Me:  When will he come back to me?
Message:  ALWAYS IN GOOD TIME AND ALWAYS (sic) YOU NEED HIM.  TRUST IN YOUR LOVE.

I tried to let that sink in.  It was … something … I guess.  Enough for me to climb down off the ledge, anyway.  But I was still unsettled by this turn of events and, frankly, somewhat shaken up. 

I mean, I had come to terms with the idea that although I couldn’t be with Ron physically, he was always still, you know … there … and I could talk to him anytime … not just when I needed to, but when I wanted to.

But now he was leaving??  Why? 

I felt like I’d just lost him … all over again.

Was he really abandoning me?

Monica and I sat back to analyze what had happened.  As we talked, two insights came to light … both very meaningful. 

First, the use of Ron’s pipe tobacco was an interesting choice.  I had experienced it multiple times by then and had come to understand it meant Ron was around … so it was something guaranteed to get my attention.   (Even if I still had to run around the room for 10 minutes to convince myself of it … duh!). 

Maybe Ron had deliberately used this technique that evening to encourage us to pull out the pendulum so he could get this difficult message across very precisely. 

Yeah, that actually made some sense. 

But why this message … where was it coming from?  And then I remembered ….
