Okay, let’s wrap up this discussion about the many ways we can communicate with our deceased loved ones. Recall that …
Hold up a minute! You say that like it’s just somethin’ normal … you know, communicatin’ with, um … dead people.
Oh, right, sorry about that. After studying and experiencing as much as I have about all this, it does seem normal. But you’re quite right … there really isn’t anything “normal” about this, is there?
Duh.
But that said, look at all the ways we’ve discussed so far that have been shown to allow us to do just that … communicate with our departed loved ones, I mean.
Hmm, yeah …. And gotta admit, there really has been LOTS o’ ways.
Indeed, there has. And they’re not just pulled out of the woodwork. We’ve actually been following a framework offered by research scientist Julie Beischel PhD. In fact, in her book “Love and the Afterlife,” she lays out FOUR major types of after-death communication (ADC).
Who’d’ve thunk … ?
Right?
Covered so far …
So, recall what we’ve covered. We tackled her first three types of ADCs … Spontaneous, Facilitated, and Assisted … and then began exploring the fourth and final one … Requested ADCs.
As we’ve previously discussed, this last type covers “everything else,” and because it does, it encompasses several options, including a few I’ve come across elsewhere and many we can do for ourselves.
Yeah, I’m specially keen on those do-it-yourselfers ….
I get it. And we covered a variety of DIY options … Thought Request, Intuitive Writing, Listening Practice, Using a Pendulum, Oracle Cards, and Inviting Them to Join In.
Wow, still shakin’ my head at it all. Okay, so what’s left … ?
TYPE 4 – “Requested” ADCs (continued)
Well, there are two final options I want to touch on … Psychoactive Drugs and Instrumental Trans-Communication.
Uh, syko drugs? Trans … instruments?
I know, they sound complicated, right? That’s because they are. They typically require specific skills and experience if you want to effectively (and safely) engage in them.
So, to be clear, this isn’t a “how-to” write-up. I just want to introduce you to the fact they exist and give you a sense of what they are, because they’re becoming increasingly popular and you may encounter them.
Oh, okay.
Psychoactive Drugs
The first is one Beischel specifically addresses in her book … the use of psychoactive substances.
Uh, again, syko what … ?
Think magic mushrooms and the like.
Oh, yeah, okay.
This option is similar to Facilitated ADCs in that the idea is to induce a state of consciousness to make us more susceptible to having an ADC … the drugs themselves don’t actually cause an ADC.
They don’t? I woulda thought …
Me too, but no, apparently not. However, using these drugs specifically for the purpose of inducing an ADC is actually an ancient practice in various cultures that goes back eons. It’s something Beischel explains.
She also delves into the use of one particular drug … Ayahuasca. It’s a botanical mixture she says is spreading from the Amazon to countries around the world. Though it was used for thousands of years by indigenous groups for many reasons, including healing, Beischel states its main purpose was to connect with ancestors in the spirit world.
Today, she maintains, people use it to help manage grief, address mental health issues, and develop spiritually.
Hmm, sounds like important stuff. You got experience with these syko-drugs?
Nope, not something I’ve delved into. So, I’ll leave it to Beischel and others who know what they’re talking about to elaborate. However, I have observed it’s a topic that’s starting to pop up in more places and conversations around me.
Be aware, though, it comes with this strong proviso … don’t do this on your own. You really want to have an experienced facilitator guiding you to handle what might come up for you during your “trip.” Not to mention, it’s illegal in certain places ….
Yikes! Good to know.
Instrumental TransCommunication (ITC)
This last one isn’t in Beischel’s book, but it’s also starting to appear in several forums. It’s the use of technology (digital photography, radios, computers, phones, etc.) to communicate between those in Spirit and those of us still here. It’s referred to as ITC … Instrumental TransCommunication.
Um, okay, sounds kinda cool ….
Indeed. I don’t have personal experience with this one either, but I’ve recently come across two super interesting (and free) documentaries about it. Remember, it’s an option that requires some know-how and dedication, but if the idea interests you, you can learn more about it by checking these out …
Documentary #1 – The Scole Experiment
The first documentary … What Was the Scole Experiment? … reports on a group of English researchers who spent five years in the 1990’s investigating life after death through the use of various technologies.
The results were extraordinary. Get this … they worked with a spirit team to produce incredible phenomena … intricate images appearing on unopened camera film, tables levitating, spirit lights that provided healing, and even beings from some “other world” partly materializing.
Go on!
I know, sounds crazy, right? But the phenomena were intensely studied by the Society for Psychical Research and were found to be genuine.
You can check it out in the documentary, or in the book, “The Scole Experiment: Scientific Evidence for Life After Death.”
Documentary #2 – Sonia Rinaldi
The second documentary is Rinaldi: Instrumental TransCommunication to the Other Side. This one focuses on the decades-long work by Sonia Rinaldi.
Who’s she?
Rinaldi is internationally recognized in the ITC field, particularly as a researcher, but also as an author and lecturer. She devotes her life to using ITC to bring evidence of the departed through to their loved ones. And would you believe, she does it for free!
Serious? For free … ?
Yup, doesn’t charge a nickel! Another very cool story, so you may want to take a look.
And here’s a late-breaking update …
So, just yesterday, I tuned into an online interview with developers of an ITC technology and learned a super interesting tidbit.
Apparently, some people have had success using the voice record function on their smart phone to invite a communication from their departed loved one. Just a word or two heard on playback, but … wow.
No kidding! I’m gonna try that.
Yeah, me too.
Recapping it all
Okay, we’ve now reached the end of what I know about ways to communicate with the Other Side … at least, for now. To recap, we’ve talked about …
Spontaneous ADCs … the various ways our loved ones will reach out to us themselves, making their presence known or sending us signs. (Part 1)
Facilitated ADCs … specific therapies with studied and well-developed protocols that require trained facilitators … in particular, Psychomanteum-Induced ADCs and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Induced ADCs. (Part 2)
Assisted ADCs … communication using mediums, though to varying degrees we can learn to do this ourselves. (Part 3)
Requested ADCs … everything else, and particularly those ways we can reach out on our own, such as …
• Thought Request (Part 4A)
• Intuitive Writing and its variation, Listening Practice (Part 4B)
• Using a Pendulum (Part 4C)
• Oracle Cards (Part 4D)
• Inviting Them to Join In (Part 4E)
• Use of Psychoactive Drugs (this post, Part 4F).
• Instrumental TransCommunication (also Part 4F).
For an audio recap of the four types of ADCs, Dr. Beischel’s Windbridge Research Centre recently issued a 6-minute podcast that briefly summarizes them.
Whew, my head’s swimmin’ ….
I can imagine. And believe it or not, this isn’t an exhaustive list of ways to communicate with our loved ones across the veil … there are undoubtedly more. I just haven’t come across them yet.
What now?
So, uh … like, where do I go from here?
Fair question. Here’s what I’d suggest …
Take time to explore what’s in this series of posts, including Beischel’s book perhaps, and any of the other reference sources that caught your attention. There’s actually a lot here to chew on.
Ya think??
Right. Then use your intuition … which of these approaches is capturing your attention, which feels like something you want to try?
Then give it a go … see what you think and how it feels. If it works for you, keep using it. If not, try something else.
Some of these tools are easier to use than others, some require varying degrees of study and practice, and some require other people.
As with anything, not every tool or process will work for every person. So, it’s about trial and error.
Remember … OPENNESS and INTENTION count
Regardless of which approach you try, remember that each one requires an OPENNESS and INTENTION to allow communication with your spirit person.
Unlike our spirit guides, who are ALWAYS there for us, we can’t compel our loved ones to show up. I mean, even though we can’t see them, they’re still “people.” However, when the bonds of love are strong and we approach this communication with an open heart, it seems they consistently do.
Wow, SO many ways we can talk with our, uh … people.
Exactly. And not all of them require someone else to be involved.
But here’s the thing … it can often be a lot easier, more specific, and more effective if we have help. Which is why I spend so much time talking about mediumship. (See Mediumship – For the Left-Brained and Mediumship? What’s the point?)
So, if I want to see a medium …
Yeah okay, so if I decide I wanna see a medium, how do I go ‘bout that? How do I find one that’s legit? Do I see ‘em in person? What’ll it be like?
These are all excellent questions, so stay tuned for more on this in future posts.
