“Listening Practice” at a Glance
This technique for communicating with someone in Spirit is one I learned about from world-renowned psychic medium Suzanne Giesemann in this episode of her Messages of Hope podcasts.
Listening Practice is a simple technique that combines concepts of intuitive writing and meditation.
Meditation is a practice we’re often advised to take up if we want to communicate with the spirit world. It can be difficult and intimidating for many people, but this different take on it may be worth trying.
The Technique
Giesemann describes the technique very simply …
Sit … have a notepad in your lap … and listen for your loved one.
That’s it.
In learning to meditate, we’re often invited to pay attention to our breath, watch our thoughts come and go, or something similar. However, for this technique, her point is … do nothing but listen for your loved one.
When other thoughts arise, just let them go and keep listening.
Giesemann says this singular focus is what makes the difference. It causes you to set aside everything that isn’t your loved one and allows you to start hearing “what stands out from the noise.”
Just how will I “hear” … ?
Let me point out that “hearing” your loved one isn’t necessarily meant to be literal. Though it’s possible, don’t expect to hear their actual voice.
Most common is hearing words in your head, typically in your own voice. Sometimes, it may even come as just a knowing, or a feeling of something having been said.
So, when using this practice, be open to how you’ll hear.
Over time, Giesemann says, you will begin to notice the difference between your own thoughts and thoughts that are given to you by Spirit.
If this appeals, the key is to stick with it awhile to give it a chance.
